Back in the "old days" fur coats became an important trend in fashion. They became luxury and glamorous items amongst celebrities, models and rock stars which included not only women but also men. They also fit the bohemian look of the decade which was defined by the oversized, bulky fur coat. 

During the 60’s, the animal rights movement took hold, and fur was accompanied for the first time by controversy which remains up to the present. Currently, fur coats have enjoyed a huge surge in popularity, thanks to fur alternatives and the use of vintage furs and many have used the advent of faux furs (hopefully everyone will some day). Celebrities like Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Kate Hudson (all girls that love the boho look) choose to wear fur coats similar to the ones of the 60´s, quite often.
