Pix From Last Night: The Forever 21 Launch Party Celebrating Brian Lichtenberg + Forever 21 Collabo!

 Three Brown Girls!

Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the roof-top launch party for the Forever 21 + Brian Lichtenberg collaboration [launching in stores today], and I definitely enjoyed myself! I got to meet with other La Fashion Blogger's, get fashion tips from the slew of well-dressed ladies and gents, meet lots of friendly, creative spirits, and of course score a swag bag chock-full of goodies! We nibbled on hors d'oeuvres provided by Duck Duck Mousse, and danced to music spun by the selectress of the night, DJ Lindsay Luv!

For those of you that aren't familiar with Brian Lichtenberg, he's an Eclectic LA-based fashion designer who's made a name for himself by fashioning clothing with unique cutouts, geometric details, and a modern aesthetic. Brian also boasts a faithful celebrity following, designing clothing for the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyoncè, the Kardashians and M.I.A. Brian's clothing line has been featured in numerous high-fashion magazines, as well as music videos; and now he is bringing his Avant-Garde flair to Forever 21 [bring on the budget fashionistas]!

I wore this Forever 21 Jumper to the event and paired it with my black velvet Jeffrey Campbell booties [not pictured]

A little photo-op with my fellow L.A Bloggers!

I loved their energy, and of course her vest!

There was a cool DIY Bar set up for us to trick out our gifted tees!

This guy embellished his tee w/safety pins; I may have to expound upon that idea..I smell a DIY in my future.

I loved her leather cape!

Here I am again w/ Diabolina Da Fashionista and Natalie of Fashion Intel!

These were yummy! If I remember correctly, they were S'more Tart's! [will have this recipe by the end of the day!]
I loved everything about her look! From the vintage cap, to her vintage Chanel bag.

Red Lips!
I need to find a top like this ASAP. If anyone knows where I can find one, please let me know!

I was sooo happy to finally meet Alicia of Inny Vinny! Luv her!

Natalie of Fashion Intel w/her boyfriend Asael - Luv these two spirits! - Thanks again to Natalie, and of course Forever 21 for having me out! I look forward to seeing all of you again soon!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

California Dreamin': Honey On The Rooftop

Lo and I with Monica Payne - We loved her hair!

No attitudes. No doormen. No cover. My L.A natives are probably thinking this is too good to be true, considering L.A is known for their cocktail-sipping, snooty party scene, coupled with the hit or miss velvet rope games. However Monica Payne, Shelly Otto, DJ Rashida & DJ Eque, also known as The Honey Collective; definitely got it right with this one. Their rooftop soiree's presents a marriage of well dressed party goers, hipsters, good vibes, and sweeping views of the Downtown L.A skyline which perfectly frames the ultimate summer gathering. - For the past three years, these four beautiful ladies who came together as a collective, have been curating events that range from album/magazine release parties, movie premiere parties, to award after-parties, and of course their summer sexy soiree's.
Patrons are free to lounge around on comfy couches whilst sipping on drinks [reasonably priced may I add], as the cozy atmosphere is conducive to mingling, grooving, or 'working the room'. The Celebrity Selectress' better known as DJ Eque, has an impressive resume that spans from Diddy, to Virgin Records, GQ Magazine, and Mariah Carey respectively; so this honey definitely knows how to keep the party going.

 DJ Eque on the 1's & 2's

With the opening of L.A live, new lofts sprouting up on almost every corner, some of the best bars in town, and my new favorite haunt, Honey On The Rooftop; Downtown is once again the place to be in Los Angeles!
Shout outs to these beautiful ladies that recognized me from the site!

Lots of beautiful + positive ladies in the house!

Pix: Lo & I Take on Downtown L.A

Last weekend, Lo and I took a little trip Downtown to do some goofing off! Here are some of my favorite places to go when I make the trek to Downtown L.A:

1. The Alley: - Entrance on 12th & Santee
This place is not for the faint of hearts. I'm going to be honest here; it can get hot, stuffy, crowded, and just plain icky. But if you can get passed all of that, you can snag really killer deals. Granted nothing down here is name-brand; however if you are used to shopping at places like Forever 21, H&M, and the likes; they offer the same selections, at a fraction of the cost.- You can find t-shirts and tunics from $2-10, shorts from $5-10, and dresses from $2-10. You can also get good deals on shoes that range from $5-20.
Tip:
-Never settle on the first price you are quoted, this type of environment is conducive to haggling. If you don't feel comfortable naming your own price, ask them if that is the best they can do. Normally they will change their tune.
-Pay with cash to avoid being charged sales-tax!
-If you are shopping with a friend, "combine" your purchases to receive more of a discount.

This is hands down one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat when I am downtown. Bottega Louie is a swanky restaurant with a New York ambiance that boasts a modern aesthetic, floor to ceiling windows, a fresh deli, and a yummy selection of vittles. The venue is beautiful, the staff is beautiful, and the people that eat there are beautiful. Nuff said, it's a perfect place to eat, and people watch if you are in to that kind of thing.

This is one of my favorite places to get inspiration, most of the installments there are conceptual, and therefore spark some sort of conversation, and thought. Regular admission is $10, however if you are a student, they do offer admission for $5
Tip:
Admission is FREE every Thursday after 5PM

4. Olvera Street - 845 N Alameda
Which is where these photos were taken. I love to take in the culture, and of course SHOP! Ethnic pieces are really in right now, however they can be a tad expensive. I love Olvera St. because you can get the trendy pieces like Moccasin's, Tooled Leather Purses, Poncho's, Jewelry, and Hats for little of nothing. Seriously, I spotted an amazing leather satchel for about $15 bucks [yup, it was leather].

This is another one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat when I am Downtown! I love the hustle & bustle of this place, they have everything from fresh produce, to dried goods and spices, fresh meat & poultry, and the usual selection of multi-cultural eats.
Tip:
They are only open between 9-6pm MON-SUN, so stop by early to get the freshest selection!

Where are some of your favorite places to visit when you go Downtown?
