2010 Hair Resolutions

3 Day old braid out
2010 Hair Resolutions
  • Deep condition hair every 2 weeks
  • Personal no (direct) heat challenge for 6 months
  • Use proper detangling methods EVERYTIME
  • Attempt a spiral rod set

Here are a couple more flicks from Christmas with the fam:

Little cousin, myself, and my other cousin Kim

My little sis and I

Myself, my daughter, and half of my sis

I achieved this look by:
  1. I started of by shampooing the hair with Keracare Hydrating Shampoo - I shampoo in FOUR sections, this makes detangling a breeze.
  2. After the shampoo, I conditioned my hair with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration (my cheapie condish of choice while I was waiting on my Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatment) - I condition hair in the same FOUR sections that I had when I shampooed my hair. (Each section is secure with an ouchless ponytail holder) Recommended but not necessary, sit under dryer for 30 minutes with plastic cap.
  3. Rinsed hair with cold water (seals the cuticles), and detangled hair under running water (detangled hair in each section).
  4. I used a mix of 10% Hello Hydration condish, and 90% water (while I waited on my Oyin Honey Hemp), to spray each section of hair I was about to braid. Before braiding, I added a dollop of Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding (I do mean a dollop, anything more causes crunchies with buildup for me)
  5. I made about 15-20 braids, no rhyme or reason in regards to placement (with the exception that my hair was parted down the middle). No parts were necessary,  I just grabbed and braided small to medium sized sections of hair.
  6. After all my hair was braided, I added a little bit of Afroveda SunSilk Citrus Hair Oil down each braid.
  7. Tied my hair down with a silk scarf, and went to bed!
  8. The next day, I added a little Vatika Oil (you can use any oil of your choice) to my fingertips, and I took the braids down. After taking down each braid, I separated it into 3-4 sections. I then fluffed, and messed the hair up a little more to give it more of a natural look.
  9. Maintenance is easy, every other night, I make 6 jumbo twists (I use my 10% Hello Hydration Mix, & 90% Water mix to lightly mist my hair), and then I stuff the twists under a large bonnet and go to sleep. In the morning, I undo the twists, fluff, and go.
